Is teeth whitening safe for enamel?
Yes, when it is dentist-supervised. The gel lifts staining from within the enamel without removing tooth structure. Some people get short-lived sensitivity for a day or two. In the UK it is illegal for anyone who is not a registered dental professional to whiten teeth.
How long does teeth whitening last?
Typically 1 to 3 years, depending on diet and habits. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking bring the staining back faster. Keeping your trays means you can top up with a single gel syringe rather than repeating the whole course.
Will whitening work on crowns, veneers or fillings?
No — whitening only changes natural tooth enamel. Existing crowns, veneers and white fillings keep their original shade, which is why any replacement work is best matched after whitening, not before.
